The first event of the Art of Evocation series featured Audrey Assad, the daughter of a Syrian refugee, and Fernando Ortega, an eighth generation New Mexican, for an evening of sharing songs and stories about their heritage. The night explored how Christians can be peace-bearers for those in need of refuge and was hosted by Lee C. Camp (creator of the Tokens Show, and professor of Theology at Lipscomb University). REFUGE featured a pre-show VIP panel discussion with refreshments provided by Cafe Rakka, alongside a fine art gallery featuring local Nashville visual artists Stacy Beam, Georganna Greene, Hannah Pickering, Jessica Brown, and photography by Jeremy Cowart
